Loving and caring mother of Paula (Glenn) Teal, Kim (Tom) Balke, Barb (Ed) Fraser Poropat and Jackie (Tony) Molino. Doting gramma of Jenn (Scott), Kenny, Jared, Eric, Tamara, Kieran, Sam and Jack and great grandson Preston. Aileen was born and raised in Stellarton, Nova Scotia before moving to Ontario. She leaves behind many relatives and friends. Aileen was a well respected registered nurse at Douglas Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held. Predeceased by his father Harold Leonard Matthews in 1993, and his brother William Leonard Matthews in 1966. Survived by his sons Sean Matthews and Ritchie Matthews, mother Patricia Ann Matthews, sister Dianna Fretz (Jim), aunts Donna Banner, Mildred Steeves, uncles Don Hall ( Joan) and Jerry Hall, niece Stacey Lancaster (Craig Overholt), nephew James Fretz (Krista), great nieces Samantha Lancaster, Victoria Lancaster and Carrera Fretz, also survived by many cousins. Beloved wife of late Thomas Saunders (2003). Dear mother of Lynda Valvo (Richard) and Billie Bennett of Fort Erie. Loving Grandmother of Jeffrey Coates (Sylvia), Sheldon Coates (Leanne) and Dion Reinhart. Predeceased by her sisters Grace Mooney (James) and Doris Morton (Bud) Fredrick Petley (Katherine). Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Wilma will be remembered by many as the lady who made dolls for children in third world countries. She made approximately seventy dolls a month, with a goal to bring smiles to the faces of disadvantaged children. Special thanks to James Eagles of Intercede International for distributing her handcrafted dolls all over the world. Wilma was the recipient of the Intercede International Volunteer of the Year Award for 2009 for her efforts. By Wilma?s personal request, cremation has taken place. Private interment will take place on a later date.
